Prenatal Vitamins are a must for anyone TTC, pregnant, postpartum, or lactating. Taking a high-quality multivitamin during the preconception phase can support pregnancy outcomes by improving egg quality and blood folate levels.
When it comes to prenatal vitamins, there are so many options!
In general, I look for:
Clean label certified 
About 800mcg methylfolate (not folic acid)
Full spectrum B vitamins  100+% RDA, but not too much B12 (gives me a headache if in methylcobalamin form)
Vitamins are in bioavailable forms (the form your body can use without converting it first)

These are some unusual ways I apply common low-tox principles. Have you tried them?
Guiding principles:
Reduce exposure to phthalates/fragrance and other endocrine disruptors
Avoid sneaky PFAS
Don’t mess with your hormones 
Limit ionizing radiation
Purify your indoor air
1. What: Bringing my own shampoo/conditioner to the hair salon.
Why: Reduces exposure to fragrance and pthalates, known endocrine disruptors. Saves me from re-washing and hating the heavily perfumed smell for a week. Normally I wouldn’t stress about a one-time exposure like this, I just also end up hating the smell and washing my hair a million more times. So it’s just easier to cut to the chase.
2. What: Skipping contact lenses for glasses, or switching brands.
Why: Reduces daily PFAS exposure. Some contact lenses were tested by Mamavation to contain high amounts of PFAS (“forever chemicals”)! Switching to glasses on even half the days adds up to a 50% reduction in total exposure from contact lenses over the course of a year. I also switched to BioTrue lenses, who states they don’t use PFAS in their manufacturing.
3. What: Using non hormonal birth control.
Why: Avoids messing with hormone production and long-term health risks associated with hormonal therapy (like cysts, breast cancer, heart issues, etc.). Is as effective as hormonal birth control with normal use. Can be switched over to “plan pregnancy” mode when ready. 
4. What: Bringing my own thyroid guard to the dentist.
Why: Protects sensitive organs from even small doses of radiation. Not all dentists have lead shielding for the thyroid.
5. What: Using mold sprays & candles, HEPA air filters in every room, and closely monitoring the humidity in our home.
Why: Indoor air quality can be a big source of daily toxin exposure, and it’s also easily our influence. Filtering out particulates from traffic, smog, wildfires, mold, off-gassing of furniture, and natural gas from the stove all adds up.
